The result will impact the prestige of all three major parties in Punjab.

In a recent turn of events, Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal came forward to defend CISF constable Kulwinder Kaur's actions against actress Kangana Ranaut.

By fighting the General Elections alone, it runs a high risk of getting further marginalised as badly as during the 2022 assembly elections, when it was reduced to a mere three members in a house of 117.

The two mainstream parties, the Congress and the Shiromani Akali Dal-Badal have not announced any candidate so far. 

The complaint was lodged on Tuesday and submitted to the Punjab Chief Electoral Officer Sibin C by an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) delegation led by state Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema. 

The four-cornered contest between the Aam Aadmi Party, the Congress, the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Shiromani Akali Dal in all 13 constituencies is a foregone conclusion, with each party having significant and substantial claim everywhere.

"Punjab does not need such anti-Punjab governments who take their orders from Delhi," he added. 

Lodging complaint, Punjab's regional political party requested the Election Commission of India to take strict action against Lalpura regarding the same. 

Badal said this after holding a day-long meeting with the party leaders, district party presidents, and Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) members here to discuss candidates for the parliamentary seats of the state. 

The selection of candidates undeniably strengthens the BJP's position, particularly when contrasted with the ruling Aam Aadmi Party's challenges in candidate selection.
