Congress candidate, Captain Ranjit Singh Rana, who had joined the Congress party after Rajinder Rana went to BJP, defeated BJP's Rajinder Rana with 2440 votes in today's poll results.

Rana is known for having brought transition in BJP politics in HP in 2017 by defeating BJP’s CM face Prem Kumar Dhumal, Rana is now back to the Dhumal family for support in the by-poll.

Referring to the resentment among the BJP leaders after the six rebels were given the tickets, he said small resentments are part of democracy.
