Oli, 72, leader of Nepal's largest communist party, was appointed by President Ram Chandra Paudel to head a coalition government with the Nepali Congress (NC) and smaller parties, following the ousting of Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' after a confidence vote loss in the House of Representatives (HoR).

The turning point came as coalition ministers from the Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist Leninist (CPN-UML) resigned en-masse, retracting their support.

Two schools in Nepal's Dang district, built with financial assistance from the Indian government under the ‘Nepal-India Development Cooperation’ initiative, were recently inaugurated.
