The first instalment will be transferred immediately after verification through the digital crop survey and Krishi Mapper app, and the second instalment will be transferred immediately after the crop harvest, he said in a statement here.

The CEEW report highlighted that 36% of the 1,478 farmers surveyed in 11 districts of Punjab grew Pusa 44 in Kharif 2022 due to its high yield.

Punjab Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister stated that the department received at least 21,511 applications from farmers cooperatives, FPOs, and panchayats seeking subsidies for 63,697 crop residue management (CRM) machines during the upcoming paddy harvest season in 2024.

Farmers owing allegiance to the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee also raised slogans against the BJP, saying its candidates will not be allowed to campaign in the villages.  

At the same time, supporters of Bhartiya Kisan Union (Ekta-Ugrahan), BKU (Krantikari), and Kirti Kisan Union voiced their discontent by chanting slogans against the BJP and displaying black flags during Hans' roadshow. 

The unions highlighted that they will burn effigies of both the central and Punjab government over the issue on April 7.

Punjab encountered heavy rains at a time when the wheat crop was all set for harvesting.
