The by-poll was necessitated after the seat fell vacant following the resignation of Angural, who was previously an AAP legislator, and joined the BJP in March. The poll saw a voter turnout of 54.98%, a significant drop from the 67% recorded in the 2022 state elections.

According to the state election department, Himachal Pradesh recorded a 71% voter turnout, with the highest polling recorded in Nalagarh at 78.1%. Hamirpur and Dehra saw 67.1% and 65.2% turnout, respectively.

A voter turnout of 42.60 per cent was recorded till 3 pm, according to the Election Commission of India's Voter Turnout app.

The by-polls will determine the fate of 13 candidates, including Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu's wife in Himachal.
