The Union Home Ministry has announced that 1,037 personnel from various services will be honoured with gallantry and service medals on Independence Day. This includes police officers, fire service members, home guards, civil defence personnel, and correctional services staff.

President Murmu has arrived in New Zealand as part of her three-nation tour. She was welcomed in Auckland by New Zealand’s Trade Minister Todd McClay and High Commissioner Neeta Bhushan. This visit marks the second leg of her tour, following her stay in Fiji.

President Droupadi Murmu, who is on a two-day visit to Fiji, described the honour as “a reflection of the deep ties of friendship” between India and Fiji. This is the first visit by an Indian head of state to the archipelago nation.

Following her visit to Fiji, President Murmu will travel to New Zealand and Timor-Leste, as part of her six-day, three-nation tour.

In a letter to the President, Sandhwan expressed disappointment and concern among the people of Punjab, citing the notification was only read in English and Hindi during the oath ceremony of Governor Gulab Chand Kataria on Wednesday.

The 133rd edition of Asia's oldest and world's fifth oldest tournament begins on July 27 and will be played in four cities -  Kolkata, Kokrajhar in Assam, Shillong in Meghalaya and Jamshedpur in Jharkhand.

The Rath Yatra, also known as the Chariot Festival, is as ancient as the Jagannath Temple itself. It marks the journey of the Holy Trinity to their maternal aunt, Goddess Gundicha Devi's Temple, and concludes with their return after eight days.

"President Droupadi Murmu conferred Kirti Chakra upon Captain Anshuman Singh, The Army Medical Corps, 26th Battalion The Punjab Regiment, posthumously. Disregarding his own safety, he exhibited exceptional bravery and resolve to rescue many people in a major fire incident," it said.

Addressing the Parliament on Thursday, President Droupadi Murmu said that the pace of reforms will be further accelerated in tune with the aspirations of the people of India for rapid development. In the last 10 years, India has risen to become the fifth largest economy from the 11th ranked one, she said.

The opening of 25,000 Jan Aushadhi Kendras in the country is also progressing at a fast pace, President Murmu said while addressing the joint sitting of Parliament.

MPs of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) boycotted the President's address and claimed it was written by the Central government while maintaining that they had full respect for her. Kejriwal was arrested on Wednesday, by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the alleged excise policy scam.

Murmu’s address to the joint sitting of Parliament will also be the first after the constitution of the 18th Lok Sabha. The first session of the 18th Lok Sabha began on Monday and the 264th session of the Rajya Sabha will begin on June 27.
