The Delhi High Court issued an order for the release of Amit Chakravarty, the HR head of NewsClick, in a case filed by the Delhi Police under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967. Chakravarty, who recently became an approver in the case, was granted release by Justice Swarna Kanta Sharma.

The Patiala House Court in Delhi has taken cognizance of a chargesheet filed against News Portal Newsclick PPK and its founder and Editor-in-Chief, Prabir Purkayastha, under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.

The Supreme Court on Monday adjourned the medical bail plea of NewsClick founder Prabir Purkayastha, who is currently lodged in Tihar jail under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), to April 22. The decision to postpone the hearing came after senior advocate Kapil Sibal, representing Purkayastha, was unavailable.

Delhi Police has taken a significant step in the UAPA case against NewsClick and its founder Prabir Purkayastha, filing an extensive charge sheet spanning about 8,000 pages.

The Patiala House Court of Delhi has granted an additional 10 days to the Delhi Police to conclude its investigation into the case against Prabir Purkayastha, the founder and Editor-in-Chief, and Amit Chakravarty, HR Head of the news portal NewsClick.
