The government has introduced guidelines for the 'Model Solar Village' component under the PM-Surya Ghar scheme, aimed at promoting solar energy in one village per district. With an Rs 800 crore budget, each selected village will receive Rs 1 crore.

The Prime Minister took to social media platform X to announce the achievement, stating, "Outstanding news! In about a month since it was launched, over 1 crore households have already registered themselves for the PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana."

Officials express optimism that the PM Surya Ghar scheme will reignite interest in solar power among residents of Jammu and Kashmir, a region that has historically lagged in harnessing its solar power generation capacity.
