Addressing attendees at the India International Garment Fair (IIGF), Minister Singh, highlighted government's commitment to boost growth within the textiles and garments industry. The PLI scheme, which initially received a budgetary allocation exceeding Rs 10,000 crore, has already been instrumental in promoting the production of man-made fibre apparel, fabrics, and technical textiles across the country.

Driven by the PLI scheme, India's 5G subscriptions have surpassed 130 million, projected to reach 860 million by 2029, per a Prabhudas Lilladher report. India's teledensity is 85.64%, with rural at 58.92% (up from 44% in 2014) and urban at 134.13%.

Government officials and industry experts, revealed that a substantial portion of these employees are young, first-time job seekers aged between 19 to 24 years. Moreover, an estimated 300,000 people have benefited from indirect employment opportunities stemming from the Apple ecosystem. 

Goyal encouraged firms to benefit from the Production-Linked Incentive(PLI) scheme to consider it as an initial boost rather than a long-term subsidy. He emphasized the need for competition and urged companies to provide constructive criticism and feedback for better implementation of the scheme.
