The Delhi Police has petitioned the court for an extension to conclude its investigation into the Parliament security breach case, citing pending reports and the voluminous nature of digital data involved. They have sought an additional three months for the investigation process.

The submission was made before Additional Sessions Judge Hardeep Kaur, who subsequently extended the judicial custody of all six accused until March 1.

"The accused were known to each other for the last four years but the plan to breach parliament was hatched a year ago," the officer said.

Turning down the request, the court responded there was still "enough time" for the hearing to take place before the remand came to an end.

Azad said not allowing her to consult a lawyer of her choice amounted to violation of her fundamental right guaranteed under the Constitution, making the remand order unlawful.

Manoranjan D, one of the six people arrested in the Parliament security breach is suspected to be the mastermind behind the conspiracy.  The New Delhi Police suspect that Manoranjan was the one who came up with the plan of doing  ‘something big to send a message.’

Special Judge Hardeep Kaur extended the custody of Lalit Jha on an application moved by Delhi Police.

The Delhi police have taken into custody a youth from Bagalkote in Karnataka and questioned another man from Mysuru in connection with the security breach in Parliament.

The sources told PTI that the Union home ministry on Wednesday directed for a survey of the Parliament building complex so that a "regular deployment of the CISF security and fire wing on a comprehensive pattern" could be done.

MPs of the opposition INDIA bloc will hold a protest at Jantar Mantar here on Thursday against the suspension of more than 140 opposition parliamentarians and stage a "mock Parliament", sources said.

This session of the Parliament saw turbulence in the proceedings whether it was in regards to the expansion of MPs or the sessions continuously being adjourned.

A total of 141 MPs have been suspended from the Parliament’s upper and lower houses, following protests over the recent Parliament security breach.
