China has agreed to extend a USD 2 billion debt on existing terms, providing much-needed relief to debt-trapped Pakistan. Initially, China sought a hike in interest rates, but an understanding has been reached to roll over the loan with no changes in terms. This agreement comes as Pakistan faces challenges in maintaining foreign exchange reserves, relying on deposits from friendly countries.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is expressing eagerness to collaborate with Pakistan's incoming government to ensure macroeconomic stability and prosperity, a top official stated.

"The PPP and PML-N have achieved the required number, and [now] we are in a position to form the government," Bhutto-Zardari was quoted as saying by Geo News.

Khanna, a Democrat lawmaker, alleged that the Pakistani military is supporting the current prime minister even though the people have voted for Imran Khan. He also urged the Biden administration not to recognize an illegitimate government in Pakistan.
