Sharif, 72, assumed office for the second time on Monday, following a closely contested election marked by allegations of vote rigging.

This call comes at a time when the country grapples with a fractured mandate and allegations of irregularities in the electoral process.

The PTA in a statement on Wednesday said it had not yet received any instructions from the government to shut internet and that services would work without any interruption on Thursday.

"The election outcomes are evident; the army, in various ways, is engaging in pre-election manipulation, and it will likely carry out some election manipulation and post-election manipulation to install a government that aligns with its preferences," he said.
