Indian national Nikhil Gupta was extradited to the United States on June 14 to face legal proceedings. However, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has not received any request for consular access from Gupta. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal confirmed this during a weekly briefing on Friday.

He made his first appearance in Manhattan federal court before Magistrate Judge James Cott on Monday afternoon for his arraignment and pleaded not guilty. Gupta's attorney Jeffrey Chabrowe entered the "not guilty" plea on his behalf. Gupta is being held in a Brooklyn detention facility.
