The attackers with alleged ties with BJP beat the woman, stripped and then abandoned her 300 meters away from home after a rape attempt.

The accusation came in the wake of a BJP worker's death, which has sparked significant unrest.

“Remember Singur is Singur, Nandigram is Nandigram, Khatra is Khatra, and Bishnupur is Bishunupur. Each place has its own characteristics…,” said CM Mamata Banerjee while speaking at the administrative review meeting held at Khatra in Bankura.
