The tallying for elections to 24 urban local bodies—comprising three municipalities and 21 town councils—spanning 10 districts, began at 8 am across 16 centres, according to the State Election Commission.

The decision to annul the poll was made based on the report submitted by the Returning Officer of Dimapur Municipal Council, taking into account all pertinent circumstances.

The elections, encompassing three municipal councils and 36 town councils, are poised to include a groundbreaking 33% reservation for women, a first in Nagaland's municipal election history.

Nomination procedures would commence from June 7, with candidates or their representatives directed to submit nomination papers to the Returning Officer, Wokha Town Council, ADC office, between 11 AM and 3 PM on working days until June 11.
