In a recent development, a Delhi court has discharged 11 accused individuals in connection with a 2020 northeast Delhi riots case. Additional Sessions Judge Pulastya Pramachala presided over the case and stated that there was no substantial evidence to suggest the accused had committed the alleged offences.

Curfew remains in force in Banbhoopura area but has been lifted from the outer areas of the town. Nearly 1,100 security personnel are already deployed in the town.

"The government is treating Muslims as an enemy. We are against the anti-Muslim policies of the government," Islamic Cleric Raza Khan told reporters outside his residence after the Friday prayers.
