Indian mountaineer Satyadeep Gupta has made history by becoming the first person to scale Mt Everest and Mt Lhotse twice in one season and the first Indian to traverse the two peaks in 11 hours and 15 minutes.

Purnima summited Everest on May 12, again on May 19 with Pasang Sherpa, and a third time on May 24.

Strong winds blew away several tents of mountaineers at Camp II of Mt Everest on Wednesday. The incident temporarily halted the expedition of a 50-member mountaineers' group staying at the tents.

For the first time since the pandemic began, China is permitting foreign climbers to access Mount Everest via Tibet.

Organised by the Sath Sathai Foundation, an organization dedicated to advocating for climate change awareness and women's empowerment, the event featured a conference at the base camp.

Beyond the trek, the team will also interact with villagers and local representatives along the route, engaging in discussions about the impact of climate change on their lives and livelihoods.

Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay were the first to summit the 'Sagarmatha' peak in 1953. Since then, thw world's tallest mountain has challenged the spirits of all those who have attempted to scale it.
