On Saturday morning, several parts of Vapi in Valsad, Gujarat, were severely affected by waterlogging following an overnight heavy rainfall. The continuous downpour has caused significant disruptions to daily activities in the area, with streets and homes submerged in water.

Heavy rain disrupts daily life in North India and Assam, causing landslides and floods, affecting millions, with critical situations in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Assam.

The rains have caused widespread disruption, with 107 roads in Mandi, four in Chamba, three in Solan, and one in Kangra district closed to vehicular traffic. Additionally, 212 transformers have been disrupted, leaving many areas without power. 

"The southwest monsoon has further advanced into the remaining parts of Rajasthan, Haryana, and Punjab today. Thus, it covered the entire country on 2nd July 2024, against the normal date of July 8 (six days before the normal date of covering the entire India)," the IMD said in a statement.

The forecast predicts continued heavy rain across North India, impacting states like Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Bihar over the next few days. Coastal regions of Gujarat and the West Coast are also expected to experience significant rainfall.
