Russia has agreed to facilitate the return of all Indians who were recruited to fight in Ukraine alongside the Russian army, following discussions between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Vladimir Putin during Modi's visit to Moscow. This breakthrough development came after Modi raised the issue during a private dinner hosted by Putin on Monday evening.

The two-day visit is crucial as it seeks to bolster bilateral ties, focusing on energy, trade, and defence cooperation through summit talks with President Vladimir Putin in Moscow.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on an official visit to Moscow on July 8-9, as confirmed by Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra. The visit comes at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin for the 22nd India-Russia Annual Summit. Modi's itinerary includes a private dinner hosted by President Putin upon his arrival in Moscow on Monday afternoon.
