Hooda praised Vinesh Phogat's Olympic performance, stating that she had brought glory to the country. He demanded that Phogat be sent to the Rajya Sabha, citing her excellent performance in the Olympics.

Manu Bhaker, the star shooter who made history by securing two bronze medals at the Paris Games, will lead India as the flag bearer during the Olympic closing ceremony on Sunday, August 11.

Bhaker lost to Hungarian bronze medallist Veronika Major in the shoot-off.

The 22-year-old, who has already made history by becoming the first Indian athlete to win two bronze medals in one edition of the quadrennial showpiece, can make it even more historic if she wins a third medal on Saturday, something which is well within her grasp after her commanding performance in the qualification round.

Aiming for her third Olympic medal, the 22-year-old showcased her skill by shooting a remarkable aggregate score of 590.

She clinched two bronze medals in 10 m pistol event. On Sunday, she grabbed her maiden medal in women’s category of the same event and her second triumph was with Sarabjot Singh in the mixed category.

Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya says Bhaker told PM that the initiative of Khelo India was helpful for shaping her career.
