The Supreme Court has recently dismissed Sameer Kulkarni's plea challenging the validity of the sanction for his prosecution in the 2008 Malegaon bomb blast case. Kulkarni, one of the accused in the case, argued that the sanction to prosecute him under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) was improperly granted.

The special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court is set to commence the final arguments in the 2008 Malegaon blast case. This marks a significant phase in the long-standing legal proceedings surrounding the tragic incident in Maharashtra's Malegaon, which resulted in the deaths of six people and injuries to several others. The explosion, caused by a device strapped to a motorcycle, occurred near a mosque in Malegaon city, Nashik, on September 29, 2008.

The court had, on March 11, issued a bailable warrant of Rs 10,000 against Thakur, who is an accused in the September 2008 Malegaon bomb blasts case, for failing to appear before it despite repeated warnings.
