"The Punjab Police is fully geared up to ensure free, fair, and peaceful elections in the state".  

The BJP-led coalition, including the BJP, Nishad Party, Apna Dal (S), and SBSP, aims to capture all 80 seats. Conversely, the I.N.D.I.A bloc, comprising the Congress and Samajwadi Party, has agreed to contest with Samajwadi Party on 63 seats and Congress on 17. Meanwhile, Mayawati's BSP has opted for a solo campaign, contesting independently across the state.

Besides welcoming EC’s decision of 7 phase elections in state, Chowdhury emphasised the importance of deploying central forces well in advance of the polling dates to instil a sense of security among voters.

“Pattern of past MCC (Model Code of Conduct) violations will prepare the ground for civilised campaigning during the Lok Sabha elections. There should be a responsibility on star campaigners for maintaining decorum,” said Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar.
