The festival of democracy, a celebration of our nation's pride, is underway as Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar ensures smooth polling in the second phase of Lok Sabha elections, urging citizens to participate wholeheartedly.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged people to cast their votes in record numbers in the second phase of the Lok Sabha polls and said a high voter turnout strengthens democracy.

In the run-up to the third phase of Lok Sabha elections, Priyadarshini Raje Scindia, wife of Union Minister and BJP candidate Jyotiraditya Scindia, has joined the campaign trail to support her husband in Madhya Pradesh.

The constituency will go to the polls tomorrow and the campaign ended on Wednesday.

The initiative is called "Democracy Discount" and voters who show proof of voting can avail up to 20 per cent discount at these restaurants on April 26 and 27.

On Friday, voting will be held in Uttar Pradesh in Amroha, Meerut, Baghpat, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, and Mathura.

For the second phase, CM Yogi Adityanath covered all eight seats of Uttar Pradesh and his campaign also reached six other states.

The ECI plans to convene meetings with Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) of the concerned states to review arrangements at polling stations, including provisions for shading, drinking water, and fans, aimed at alleviating the discomfort caused by high temperatures.
