General Upendra Dwivedi has assumed the role of the 30th Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), succeeding General Manoj Pande, who retired on June 30 after over forty years of dedicated service to the nation.

Commissioned into the 18 JAK RIF in 1984, he has commanded troops in both the Northern and Western theatres, including the challenging Kashmir Valley and Rajasthan deserts.
