Lakshya Sen has made history at the Paris Olympics by becoming the first Indian man to reach the semi-finals in the men’s singles badminton event. The 22-year-old shuttler achieved this remarkable feat after a thrilling comeback victory against the 12th seed, Chou Tien Chen from Taiwan. Sen’s victory, which came with scores of 19-21, 21-15, 21-12, was celebrated by the packed Indian crowd in the French capital.

A must win for India; Sen continuously retrieved every attack into the confines of the court and turned it into a winning set for him twice, further shocking Christie.

Lakshya Sen triumphed in his Olympic debut, defeating Kevin Cordon while Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy also won their doubles match, showcasing superior skills and teamwork for a strong start in Paris 2024.

“Against both the Popov brothers, it will be a good test. So I'll be able to assess him. Once he gets into the village in Paris, we won't get to play much. We will have limited time for practice in the main arena," said Vimal.
