Mohammad Haneefa Jan, who contested as an Independent after resigning from the National Conference, affirmed his intention to advocate for Ladakh's issues with leaders from the National Democratic Alliance and the INDIA bloc.

The meeting is significant because Hanifa, along with the entire Kargil unit of the NC, resigned before the election to protest the party’s decision to support INDIA bloc candidate Tsering Namgyal.

Jan plans to initiate talks about the Sixth Schedule status and Ladakh statehood after the government's formation.
