Authorities in Kuno National Park (KNP) are using various measures to help cheetahs beat the scorching summer heat, from using water guzzlers to laying a 13-km-long pipeline and filling dry nullahs with lifted water to using water spray.

A cheetah strayed out of the Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh and was spotted in a village in Rajasthan’s Karauli on Saturday

In February 2023, Kuno National Park welcomed an additional 12 cheetahs from South Africa, among them being 'Gamini'. Recently, Gamini, residing at the park, has given birth to six cubs, boosting the cheetah population at KNP to 27, inclusive of 14 cubs.

Costing Rs 17.72 crore, the sanctuary spans 64 square kilometers and is securely enclosed with a wired fence, ensuring the safety and containment of the cheetahs. 

The news of the births surfaced just weeks after another Namibian cheetah named Aasha welcomed three cubs. The discovery of Jwala's four cubs was made as frontline wildlife warriors got closer to the proud mother.

Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav took to X to share the exciting news on Tuesday, expressing his delight over the expanding cheetah population at KNP.
