Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday filed a writ petition in the High Court on Monday.

After Governor's sanctions to prosecute CM Siddaramaiah over complaints regarding MUDA scam, the Karnataka Congress will stage a protest tomorrow to refute the allegations.

According to official and Congress sources, the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will legally fight the prosecution sanction accorded by the Governor.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday said Karnataka stands third in the country by drawing Rs 54,427 crore Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) during 2023-24.

Leaders of both parties asserted that they will work together to bring BJP-JD(S) back to power in Karnataka, by uprooting the ‘corrupt’ Congress from power.

CM Siddaramaiah said if there is cooperation from the people, it will be considered to provide a permanent solution by relocating the villages which are repeatedly submerged.

The Mekedatu project will help Karnataka store 65 tmc water, also generate power and provide drinking water for Bengaluru. Also, the stored water can be used to provide water to Tamil Nadu during the distress years.

Responding to Siddaramaiah, Sitharaman said the state’s economy worsened mainly owing to the hike in prices of fuel, milk and stamp duty as well as poor capital expenditure.

Critics, including prominent industry figures like Biocon’s Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, argue that such quotas could stifle the growth of Karnataka's thriving IT sector and are discriminatory. The concerns are not without merit. The IT sector in Karnataka, particularly in Bengaluru, has flourished due to its cosmopolitan nature and the ability to attract talent from across the country and the world. Imposing stringent local hiring quotas could deter investment and hamper the sector’s competitiveness.

The bill was directed at requiring firms in India’s IT capital to prioritise local hires for 70 per cent of non-management roles and 50 per cent of management-level jobs.

“All parties are together on Karnataka’s water issue. Therefore, an all-party meeting will be held (on July 14),” the Chief Minister said.
