Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Drass on July 26 to honour the fallen soldiers of the 1999 Kargil War.

As per the official statement, the Jammu Kashmir Study Centre's (JKSC) Chandigarh chapter brought the soil to plant the trees from the Bajrang post, the starting point of the Kargil War.

The war officially ended on July 26, 1999, after the Indian forces successfully repelled the Pakistani forces that had clandestinely seized important positions in Ladakh.
