Enforcement Directorate says it will file its response to BRS leader K Kavitha’s bail plea in a money laundering case linked to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam by August 22.

As per the cause list of August 20 uploaded on the top court website, a bench of justices BR Gavai and KV Viswanathan is slated to hear her pleas.

The apex court agreed to hear K Kavitha’s pleas challenging the Delhi HC’s July 1 verdict denying her bail, after hearing ED and CBI's response on the matter.

The high court had on July 1 dismissed Kavitha’s bail pleas, saying she was prima facie one of the main conspirators in the criminal conspiracy related to the formation and implementation of the now-scrapped Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22.

“We hope that my sister too will be given bail sometime next week,” the BRS working president and Kavitha’s brother KT Rama Rao said. There was no need to keep her in jail as the charge sheet had been filed in the court, the former Telangana minister contended.

A Delhi court recently dismissed the default bail petition filed by K. Kavitha, a prominent leader from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). This decision came after Kavitha withdrew her plea seeking default bail in the Delhi Excise Policy case. The court's ruling, delivered by Special Judge Kaveri Baweja at the Rouse Avenue court, was straightforward—the plea was dismissed as it was officially withdrawn by Kavitha’s counsel.

A Delhi court has set August 12 as the date for considering the supplementary chargesheet filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and five other individuals in the excise policy case. This decision was made by Special Judge Kaveri Baweja, who deferred the matter for the CBI to submit its arguments on the chargesheet.

A Delhi court has decided to extend the judicial custody of former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and BRS leader K. Kavitha until July 31. This extension follows the conclusion of their previous period of judicial custody.

The Rouse Avenue Court has taken cognizance of the supplementary charge sheet filed by the CBI against BRS leader K Kavitha in the Delhi Excise Policy case. Special Judge Kaveri Baweja, after reviewing the supplementary charge sheet, has directed the police to produce Kavitha before the court through video conferencing on July 26 at 2 PM. Meanwhile, the court has extended the judicial custody of Manish Sisodia and the other accused until the same date.

She was taken to Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) Hospital due to some health issues, an official said.

The Rouse Avenue court is likely to consider the charge sheet filed against her on July 6.

Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma, who had reserved the order on the two bail pleas of Kavitha on May 28, is scheduled to pass the verdict at 2:30 PM on July 1.
