The court ordered immediate action to identify and expel infiltrators, criticising the state government for not complying with its directive to file reports from the Deputy Commissioners of six districts.

Soren questioned the delay despite the Supreme Court collegium clearing the name of Justice B.R. Sarangi for the post 7-8 months ago.

Earlier in April this year, the High Court had queried whether the Central Government could take direct action under the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) against Bangladeshi infiltrators in five districts of Santhal Pargana.

The bench of Justice Rangon Mukhopadhyay today heard the matter and asked the ED advocate to file its reply before June 10, when the hearing will resume in the case.

Soren had approached the PMLA court, the Jharkhand High Court and the Supreme Court challenging his arrest by ED terming it illegal.

The High Court stayed the non-bailable warrant issued by the Chaibasa Civil Court against Rahul Gandhi until the next hearing. Additionally, proceedings in the lower court have also been stayed. Justice Rakesh Kumar of the High Court has directed the indicator of this case to submit a response.

The High Court directed the Central Bureau of Investigation to file a point-wise report status report of the case.

Taking serious note of mentioning a petition for hearing before the court without correcting the errors in it, the court imposed a fine of Rs 1.25 lakh on Arjun Munda. The court has directed Munda to deposit this amount of fine with the Advocate Clerk Association, Jharkhand High Court.
