Union Minister for Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia on Sunday demanded that the Opposition apologise to Rajya Sabha Chairman and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, referring to a spat between the chair and Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan.

The Election Commission has imposed a 48-hour campaigning ban on Congress leader Randeep Surjewala following his controversial remarks about BJP MP Hema Malini. The ban was initiated due to statements made by Surjewala that were deemed "derogatory," "vulgar," and in violation of the Model Code of Conduct.

Returning Officer and Special Secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly Braj Bhushan Dubey said that all three candidates have submitted their nomination papers in two sets each. The scrutiny of the papers will be held on February 16 from 11 am onwards, he said.

Jaya Bachchan (SP), Deepender Singh Hooda (Congress) and other opposition members sought to know the reasons for skipping question number 18 and taking up question number 19 related to the Polavaram irrigation project.
