The terrorists opened fire when Army personnel in the border area noticed suspicious movement and challenged the men to identify themselves. They were killed in retaliatory firing in the Gohallan area of north Kashmir's Uri sector, sources said.

The accident had occurred when a bus carrying 86 devotees from Haryana's Kurukshetra to the Shiv Khori shrine in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district skidded off the Jammu-Poonch highway and plunged into a 150-foot gorge.

These reports, derived from the interrogation of overground workers (OGWs), indicate that seven to eight terrorists based in Pakistan have planned these attacks, including ambushes on Indian Army and civilian vehicles.
