Workers of jailed former prime minister Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf were not allowed to hold rallies to celebrate the country's Independence Day and over 100 party workers were detained by security agencies across Punjab, party sources claimed on Thursday.

For the first time, the elections for the chancellor will be held online compared to the traditional process in which the graduates are required to attend the process in full academic dress. The prestigious chancellorship goes to graduates of the university, usually politicians, a UK-based newspaper said.

Khan said he was under investigation by many institutions and he would give time to the police after the completion of his earlier inquiries.
