The successful launch of the Earth Observation Satellite-8 (EOS-8) by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) marks another milestone in India’s space journey. Union Home Minister Amit Shah was quick to acknowledge this achievement, extending his congratulations to ISRO through the social media platform X.

The launch, carried out from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, marks a pivotal moment for the Indian space program, as it transitions towards greater collaboration with industry partners for future satellite missions.

The launch, conducted on Friday, marks the third developmental flight of the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV-D3) and is a significant milestone for ISRO.

ISRO is set to launch the Earth Observation Satellite-8 (EOS-8) from Sriharikota on August 15. This significant event will see the satellite being deployed by the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV)-D3, a launch that is poised to enhance India’s capabilities in Earth observation.

Indian-origin astronaut Sunita Williams has been at the International Space Station (ISS) for two months on a mission initially planned for a week. The mission's extension is due to technical issues with the Boeing Starliner capsule, not problems with the ISS itself, according to ISRO Chairman S. Somanath.

ISRO has confirmed the selection of Shukla, 39, and Group Captain Prasanth Balakrishnan Nair, 48, for the mission during a press conference on Friday.
