The launch, carried out from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, marks a pivotal moment for the Indian space program, as it transitions towards greater collaboration with industry partners for future satellite missions.

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully launched the Earth Observation Satellite-8 (EOS-8) from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. The launch, conducted on Friday, marks the third developmental flight of the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV-D3) and is a significant milestone for ISRO.

ISRO is set to launch the Earth Observation Satellite-8 (EOS-8) from Sriharikota on August 15. This significant event will see the satellite being deployed by the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV)-D3, a launch that is poised to enhance India’s capabilities in Earth observation.

The prime astronaut selected by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for the upcoming Indo-US mission to the International Space Station (ISS) is the youngest among the astronaut-designates. 

ISRO has confirmed the selection of Shukla, 39, and Group Captain Prasanth Balakrishnan Nair, 48, for the mission during a press conference on Friday.

Covering a 29-kilometer stretch of limestone shoals submerged in shallow waters between Dhanushkodi in India and Talaimannar in Sri Lanka, the survey marks the most precise mapping of this ancient structure to date.

Launched on September 2, 2023, the Aditya-L1 mission aims to observe the sun from the advantageous Lagrangian point L1.

An alumnus of the National Institute of Technology in Nagaland and now a soil scientist at ISRO, Dr. Yimchunger and his team have successfully developed the Reusable Launch Vehicle – Technology Demonstrator (RLV-TD), marking a milestone in ISRO's quest to create a fully reusable launch vehicle aimed at reducing space mission costs.

"RLV-LEX-03 re-demonstrated the autonomous landing capability of the RLV under more challenging release conditions, including a cross range of 500 meters and more severe wind conditions," ISRO announced. The vehicle, named 'Pushpak,' was released from an Indian Air Force Chinook helicopter at an altitude of 4.5 km. From this release point, Pushpak autonomously executed cross-range correction maneuvers, approached the runway, and achieved a precise horizontal landing on the runway centerline.

The re-entry of this object was continuously monitored by ISRO’s facility, ISRO System for Safe and Sustainable Space Operations Management (IS4OM), ISTRAC.

ISRO's Aditya-L1 spacecraft's onboard instruments captured significant solar activity, including several X-class and M-class flares and associated coronal mass ejections, leading to major geomagnetic storms in May 2024.

ISRO plans to source payloads and satellites from Indian companies to propel them onto the global stage. Payload technology, essential for various space missions, includes equipment or cargo carried by vehicles like rockets or drones.
