NASA has announced that astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore, currently aboard the International Space Station (ISS), might remain in space until February 2025. This extension is due to ongoing issues with Boeing's Starliner spacecraft, which was initially intended to return them to Earth.

The prime astronaut selected by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for the upcoming Indo-US mission to the International Space Station (ISS) is the youngest among the astronaut-designates. 

ISRO has confirmed the selection of Shukla, 39, and Group Captain Prasanth Balakrishnan Nair, 48, for the mission during a press conference on Friday.

This visit would mark a significant step in India’s first human-crewed spaceflight program, spearheaded by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

NASA astronauts Barry Wilmore and Sunita Williams are currently stranded aboard the International Space Station (ISS) with no definite return date due to persistent issues plaguing Boeing's Starliner spacecraft.

The International Space Station (ISS), which weighs 430,000 kilograms (950,000 pounds), stands as the largest individual structure ever assembled in space.

Boeing's Starliner capsule is set for its next launch attempt to the International Space Station on June 5, according to NASA. This follows six postponements due to various technical issues.

He said the NISAR project, a joint Earth-observing mission between the US space agency NASA and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), is also likely to be launched by the end of the year.
