The pilot program, launched in partnership with the Center for Open Science (COS), aims to produce independent studies that offer insight into the relationship between social media and a teen’s well-being. Researchers will gain access to Instagram data for up to six months, which may include information on how many accounts a teen follows, how much they use Instagram, their account settings, and more.

Between March 1 and March 31, Meta received 15,226 reports on Facebook in the country, with 4,323 reports concerning fake profiles. On Instagram, the company received a total of 12,084 reports through the Indian grievance mechanism, of which 5,055 were about fake profiles on the photo-sharing platform.

“It’s more human. I think it’s important to take breaks,” she added. 

The outage not only affected Facebook and Instagram but also disrupted other Meta-owned platforms such as YouTube and Threads. Users encountered difficulties accessing these platforms, with some experiencing login issues on Meta Quest headsets

Users found themselves abruptly logged out of their Facebook and Instagram accounts during the downtime, with many facing the challenge of being unable to log back in. The disruptions affected both the app and the website.
