An Assistant Minister ranked official, Xu, appointed by Chinese President Xi Jinping for the sensitive job, said he regards his posting in New Delhi as an “honourable mission and a sacred duty” to improve and advance the bilateral ties.

The comments came in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent statement stressing the urgency of addressing the prolonged situation at the borders and highlighting the importance of ties between the two countries.
