The IMD has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in Northwest and East India and heavy rainfall in Northeast India over the next 4-5 days.

The India Meteorological Department said on Tuesday that India will receive below-normal monsoon rainfall in June as the north and northwest parts of the country reeled under an intense heatwave.

The heavy rainfall on Sunday caused waterlogging in several areas, such as Byculla, Sion, Dadar, Mazgaon, Kurla, Vikhroli, and Andheri, leading to significant disruptions in vehicular movement and traffic congestion. 

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts above-normal rainfall for this monsoon season, offering a much-needed reprieve from the scorching heat wave gripping the nation, according to the IMD's Director General of Meteorology, Mrutyunjay Mohapatra.

Southwest Monsoon is expected to reach Kerala around May 31, marking the beginning of the four-month rainy season crucial for India's agricultural economy.
