External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar has inaugurated the first overseas Jan Aushadhi Kendra in Mauritius during his two-day visit to the island nation. The launch underscores the robust cooperation between India and Mauritius, particularly in the crucial field of healthcare, as highlighted by the Ministry of External Affairs.

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar recently met with former Prime Minister of Mauritius, Paul Berenger, to discuss contemporary global issues. Jaishankar expressed his appreciation for Berenger's support of India-Mauritius relations. In a post on social media, Jaishankar highlighted the engaging nature of their conversation and the importance of the relationship between the two countries.

During a recent visit to Mauritius, India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar reiterated India's steadfast support for Mauritius regarding the Chagos Archipelago. This commitment underscores India's dedication to restoring Mauritian sovereignty over the islands and reflects the strong partnership between India and Mauritius.

The DTAA has historically attracted a significant number of foreign portfolio investors (FPI) and foreign entities to route their investments through Mauritius. Mauritius remains India’s fourth largest source of FPI investments, after the US, Singapore, and Luxembourg.However, FPI investment from Mauritius now stands at Rs 4.19 lakh crore, comprising 6% of the total FPI investment in India, as of March 2024.

The Ministry of External Affairs writing in a post on X, stated, "A new milestone in India-Mauritius ties. President Droupadi Murmu embarks on a state visit to Mauritius. President will attend the Mauritius National Day celebrations as the Chief Guest tomorrow." 

In a move to strengthen trade ties, the DGFT has approved the export of 4,750 tonnes of onions to Bhutan, Bahrain, and Mauritius, while also implementing import restrictions on premium duck meat for hotels and restaurants, and revising registration timelines and procedures for yellow pea imports on Wednesday.
