Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to attend the United Nations General Assembly's high-level meeting in New York this September. According to the preliminary program released by the Assembly President Dennis Francis' office, Modi's speech is scheduled for the afternoon session on September 26.

“It sows discord, breeds hostility, and undermines the universal values of respect and harmony that underpin cultural and religious traditions worldwide. It is essential for Member States to work together actively to nurture a genuine culture of peace and to view the world as a united family, as my country strongly believes,” she said. 

India abstained from voting on a draft resolution presented by Pakistan and co-sponsored by China at the UN General Assembly. The resolution aimed to address Islamophobia, but India emphasized the need to recognize and combat religiophobia against multiple faiths, including Hinduism, Buddhism, and Sikhism.
