Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali has announced that "Laila Majnu" will have a nationwide re-release this Friday. The 2018 film, which features Avinash Tiwary and Triptii Dimri, initially premiered in Srinagar.

The 15th Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) will kick off with the screening of "My Melbourne," an anthology featuring short films by directors Kabir Khan, Imtiaz Ali, Onir, and Rima Das. 

The film 'Amar Singh Chamkila' revolves around the life and time of Amar Singh Chamkila, a popular Punjabi singer in the '80s who was shot dead with his singer-wife Amarjot in 1988.

"For me, it's an opportunity to make a very cinematic film on OTT because it'll have a different kind of reach. Also, I wanted to prove to myself, not to anybody else, that a cinematic film works on both OTT and in theatres," the filmmaker told reporters in an interview.

The director Imtiaz Ali praised lead actors Dosanjh and Chopra for their unwavering commitment towards the film.

The upcoming drama will narrate the untold true story of the late Punjabi singer, who is referred to as the Elvis Presley of Punjab.
