Unlike typical lightning that strikes downward, these jets shoot upwards, reaching astonishing heights of over 80 kilometers, extending into the ionosphere where the atmosphere meets outer space. 

ISRO said 601 of the 676 lakes have expanded more than twice, ten lakes have grown between 1.5 and two times, and 65 lakes have grown 1.5 times.

Beyond the trek, the team will also interact with villagers and local representatives along the route, engaging in discussions about the impact of climate change on their lives and livelihoods.

The researchers warned that more effort is needed to reduce global warming, as currently the policies in place globally are likely to result in 3 degrees Celsius of global warming.
