Under fire from BJP for his remarks on actor-politician Hema Malini, senior Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala has said the BJP's IT cell has developed a habit of distorting facts and spreading lies.

Amit Malviya, head of the BJP's IT Department, posted a video on social media platform X alleging objectionable comments by Surjewala about Hema Malini, who represents Mathura. Malviya condemned the remarks, calling them sexist and disrespectful towards Malini and women in general.

“I will never come out of the Basanti shadow. It will always be there. I was born with that. I have done 200 films and people still remember me as ‘Sholay ki Basanti’ or from Seeta Aur Geeta and Baghban,” said actor-dancer-politician Hema Malini.
