The recent Haldwani violence in Uttarakhand has gripped the nation's attention, shedding light on a series of disturbing events triggered by the demolition of an illegal mosque in the Banbhoolpura area of the town. 

Northeast Delhi MP Manoj Tiwari announced on Thursday that Wakeel Hassan, a key figure in the Silkyara tunnel rescue mission, whose house was demolished in a recent demolition drive by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), will soon receive a house under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). 

On Thursday, violence broke out over the demolition of an illegally built madrassa in the Banbhoolpura area, with locals hurling stones and petrol bombs at municipal workers and police, forcing many police personnel to seek refuge at a police station, which the mob then set on fire.

Most of the people hospitalised after the violence at Malik ka Bagicha in the city's Banbhoolpura area were police personnel. The remaining were municipal workers involved in the demolition of the local madrasa and a mosque in its complex, they said.
