In a significant development, Israel has agreed to resume ceasefire talks concerning the ongoing conflict in Gaza. Early Friday, Israel responded positively to mediation efforts led by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States, confirming that it will send a delegation to Cairo on August 15 to continue negotiations.

The new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, has called for an urgent ceasefire in Gaza amid the ongoing Israel-Gaza conflict. In discussions with Israeli and Palestinian leaders, Starmer emphasised the importance of a two-state solution and the need for immediate humanitarian aid to reach civilians in Gaza.

Frustrated with Netanyahu’s handling of the war, Gantz left the government, leading to the dissolution of the three-member war cabinet formed after the October 7 Hamas attack on southern Israel.

The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) have intensified their operations against terrorist infrastructure and operatives in the Gaza Strip. They continue to conduct targeted raids and intelligence-based operations in Rafah, a key area of activity for terrorists.

Tel Aviv was rocked by the first rocket attack since January, as sirens blared throughout the city and parts of central Israel on Sunday. According to the Israeli health ministry, rockets were launched, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict.

A senior Hamas representative, Osama Hamdan, has denied any new negotiations with Israel, dismissing Israeli media reports that suggested possible talks for a Gaza truce.

This request is part of a broader case brought by South Africa, accusing Israel of genocide.

Israeli security forces demolished the home of Fadi Jamjoom in eastern Jerusalem, who perpetrated a terror attack in February resulting in the deaths of two Israelis.

Health authorities in Gaza, controlled by Hamas, reported at least 16 casualties resulting from the Israeli counter-attack on Sunday.

"Unprecedented levels of human losses, capital destruction, and the steep rise in poverty in such a short period will precipitate a serious development crisis that jeopardises the future of generations to come," Achim Steiner, the head of the UNDP, warned in a statement.
