The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) recently conducted an overnight strike on a United Nations-run school in Gaza, claiming it was necessary to stop a "ticking time bomb." Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, an IDF spokesperson, explained that this action was part of their ongoing operations against Hamas, which has been using United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) facilities for military purposes.

The Security Council on Monday held an important meeting to vote on the resolution, which called for a cease-fire throughout the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

"Even if those allegations, at the end of the day, prove to be true, that doesn't mean that UNRWA is the perpetrator," he said. 

The two leaders “also discussed the effort to release the hostages and the issue of humanitarian assistance”, the official handle of the Prime Minister of Israel posted on X.

Harris made the ceasefire call during a speech in Selma, Alabama, to commemorate the 59th anniversary of Bloody Sunday, the annual remembrance of the landmark civil rights movement.

The U.S. Central Command and the Royal Jordanian Air Force conducted a combined humanitarian assistance airdrop into Gaza.

The two sides discussed the regional security situation resulting from the Gaza conflict, including in the Red Sea, the officials noted.
