On Tuesday, an encounter broke out between militants and security forces in the Akar Forests near Patnitop in the Ramban district.

The encounter follows a larger anti-terror operation that began last Tuesday in the Khaned and Basantgarh Police Station areas.

The gunfight took place for a brief period when police assisted by Army and paramilitary forces launched a search operation in Nownatta, Naageni Peyaas and adjoining areas following information about movement of terrorists.
