Meanwhile, teams from the NDRF, SDRF, and forest department, along with local assistance, are actively working to extinguish the flames in various forest ranges, which included the Trikuta hills.

Locals allege that miscreants with some vested interests are purposely setting fires on the forest land.

"So far 38 FIRs have been registered and 600 complaints have been given to the police for investigation and action against offenders, and we have also asked the general public to share photos and videos if they see someone lighting fire in the forests," he added.

The fire, which started in the Dhara Dogano area of the Basholi belt in the Kathua district and quickly spread to regions close by, was put out after several hours of firefighting by forest department officials and local residents.
